Play.
Music therapy sessions support people of all ages and abilities who are wanting support in non-musical goals including social, communication, emotional, cognitive and physical skills. The Australian Music Therapy Association defines music therapy as a “research-based practice and profession in which music is used to actively support people as they strive to improve their health, functioning and wellbeing”. Through the use of music, sessions can be a playful way to connect and develop a therapeutic relationship and support in developing and improving these goals.
Create.
Community music programs are a great way to create a sense of belonging and a sense of community amongst individuals. Individuals develop social skills including turn-taking, regulation and following directions whilst also forming relationships with others. Current groups that we are running include; Mums and Bubs, Early Childhood and Aged Care.
Learn.
Each supported music lesson is personalised to support the client to develop their musicality in their desired instrument. Skills taught in these lessons focus on performance, listening, pitch matching, technique, singing, rhythm, movement and music appreciation.
